Four Edinburgh producers: five slabs of techno and technoid beats. After his '1996' e.p., released last year on Obscuur Records, C Mantle continues his homage to 90s techno with '1997' & '1998', focusing this time on a more Detroit sound. Ingen - well known for his hard-edged industrial techno - turns in a hefty yet faithful off-beat remix. Savier (a.k.a. Acre's Raw Village Hall) contributes the most industrial sounding of the tracks, a harsh and abrasive broken beat slab of concrete. And finally electro supremo the Wee Djs takes us slow, fat and dubby with a deep, lethargic techno rework of 1997.
